I'm so vein...

I did it. I call the vein doctor the other week and made an appointment for a consultation. Today was that appointment. When he was done consulting, he asked if I wanted to do it today, we could, or come back another time. Since I'm all about making efficient use of my trips to town, I said, "yes, do it today!" So he did!

It felt like a bee sting (in a what seemed like a million places!) then he'd ruuuuuuuub the area really hard. I'll prolly be bruised from him rubbing! Before I left the house, I had an e-mail from a friend that had the big-honkin' varicose vein SURGERY done. My procedure was for spider veins, and that is simply saline injections into the veins.

The most annoying part is having those disposable Ace-like bandages on both legs from my ankes up to my hoo-hoo. They're confining (the compression will help the procedure to be a success) but I was able to drive and walk. Sitting isn't as easy! He said I can remove them if they really bug me when I go to bed. I imagine it will be a little like being velcro'd to the flannel sheets, so I can see them coming off some time in the night!

I go back in a month for another treatment (much easier than today's, and that wasn't that tough), and then possibly another treatment a month after that. Procedure should last for a few years, but isn't permanent.

With any luck, I won't look like a road-map wearing a bathing suit the summer.
