Flea Markets...
I hate to shop. I hate flea markets and auctions even more. Oh, I'm sure you can get some good stuff there every now and then (my hope for today), but mostly the stuff there is C.R.A.P.
I was on the look-out for a metal trellis and at least two large pots (one for a sego palm, and one for a dogwood tree). They had those, but the trellis' were larger than I was thinking and uglier than I imagined! The pots weren't nearly large enough and they were hideous to boot.
I've heard of the Galt Auction for years. I was thinking it might be the perfect place to find what I was after. They open at 6:30a and close at 2p. I wanted to get there early, but today was a day that my son slept until after 9a (he's usually up between 6:30-7:00). I figured we'd just go next week. He was, literally, disappointed to tears, so off we went.
They had clothes, shoes, toys, "jewelry", rugs, kitchen stuff, sunglasses and silk plants. Everything was CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP in terms of quality. Didn't even bother to look at the prices. The food smelled kinda good (like fair food), but the whole place just seemed dirty to me (though it really was pretty clean).
We walked up one aisle and down the other. We didn't miss anything. Had to park a ways away and walk in, but when it was time to go, I couldn't get out of there fast enough! We left here around 9:30 and were home by noon. If I never go there again, it will be too soon!
Now I can scratch that off of my "places to go before I die" list.
