My 4th grade mission project...

We've known about it for A.G.E.S. It's due tomorrow. We really started on it last weekend, thanks to a styrofoam kit from Michael's. The kit? Only includes the walls to make the building! Wouldn't you think that a "kit" should have all things needed to bring it to life? HAH! We bought a "tile" roof, Indian's, animal's, a monk, and some trees. Of course the mission would need to be painted too. Oh, and don't forget the bell's, cross, and modeling clay to make an Indian oven, pond (which should have been a fountain, and adobe bricks. We're into it, stuff only, for about $60.00. W.T.F.? But then, the report needs to be written, which includes a title page, time-line, map, and a bibliography. Sadly, today I saw that the report was to have two books used and only three electronic sources. I almost picked up a book for an additional $10, but the brief story it told of our mission made me decide we didn't need it. The only book we have is from the school library, and the closest town library is about 25 miles away. So, we'll cite our sources, and hope for the best. Hope that the oral presentation, coupled with the report content and physical mission presentation will weigh heavily enough to make up for our bibliography faux paus.

My most favorite part? Why, last night I painted building parts that The Boy missed, and the part of the roof where the plastic roof "tiles" weren't cut big enough to cover (that would be when Daddy Dearest was helping...before he got pissed and quit...but that's a whole 'nother show), so I mixed three paint colors until I got it close. Oh. My. Flying. Spaghetti. Monster. It is such a match, I CAN HARDLY STAND MYSELF!!!

I'm giving The Boy ten more minutes, then back to the task at hand.

I can't wait for this project to quit looming over MY head! Sadly, the child has acquired my talent for putting stuff off. Actually, that's all fine and dandy, but when his putting it off requires me to put the pressure him to get it done, then it's not o.k. I couldn't leave the whole project for him to do on his own either, he wouldn't have known where to start. Dear Daddy helped by putting the styrofoam buildings together, and from there has only harped on him. When he wanted child to do something last night, and child was doing his own thing his own way, Daddy got pissed, wished him "good luck" on his project, and walked out. Boy Child can't afford to get a poor grade on this, and with me at his side (constantly), he's working pretty steadily.

We WILL have this done today, and then I can focus on MY stuff that I've put off far too long.
